Union Takes Home Six American Advertising Awards

Our team was thrilled to bring home six new A-shaped trophies from the <a href="https://www.aafcharlotte.com/2019-awards-winners">2019 Charlotte American Advertising Awards</a> on Feb. 27. Annually, the Awards competition hosted by AAF Charlotte honors the creative spirit of excellence in advertising based on work from the previous year. We were humbled to be recognized for silver and gold awards for some of our 2019 work:

“We worked to update their brand identity to incorporate a visual system that is friendly and approachable while staying true to their brand values,” said Art Director Lisa Neal of the Rugs.com rebrand. This included a new logo, color palette and typography with a fresher, more modern appeal. Overall, the Union team aimed to equip Rugs.com with more competitive branding and a newly designed logo that positioned them alongside other quality furniture and <a href="https://cms.union.co/industries/lifestyle">lifestyle brands</a> online. These updates worked to establish them as an industry leader in rug manufacturing that also offers inspiring design and fashion selections.

Behind the Haul is an animated social media series we created to tell the stories of trucks driving across North America in a different way. “Because trucks are such a ubiquitous part of life, it’s easy to forget how impressive these machines are and the incredible level of work they are capable of,” said John Pope, Copy Lead. Rather than focusing entirely on the types of Volvo trucks on the road, we wanted to further educate the brand’s audience by showcasing exceptional statistics about the hauls themselves, highlighting details about the challenges of the drive as well as the products they carry.

The Drivers World video series offers the real-life perspectives of truck drivers who work all over North America in Volvo trucks. Joe Demoors, in particular, shared the heart wrenching yet hopeful story behind his pink Volvo VNX, which he drives up and down the tough terrain of Vancouver Island. Our video explores the challenges of the road and the inspiration behind his truck, which helps raise awareness and funds for cancer charities.

The website was designed to show that the brand's charitable heart is seamlessly woven throughout their history in the Carolinas.
