2023 Kelly Somey Scholarship Winner Announcement

It’s the eighth year of Union’s annual college scholarship process, and we received submissions from exceptional applicants across the country. As always, we’d like to thank all of these high school seniors for sharing their passion for creativity and their aspirations to build careers in the digital marketing field with us.
All of that said, we’re excited to give a special congratulations to Zion Williams – this year’s winner of the $1,000 scholarship.
A recent grad of Beau Chene High School in Louisiana, Zion will be pursuing a degree in Visual Arts with a minor in Sports Communication while continuing his basketball career.
The opportunity to attend a school where he can sharpen his creative skillset and expand his vision is something Zion takes very seriously. Zion plans to use this opportunity to further his creative vision and passions, all while expanding his media production business, Big Kat Productions. Zion has described the goal of Big Kat Productions as “providing quality exposure for athletes, businesses and organizations through media production so [their] clients can focus on reaching their goals.” Using the connections he made through playing sports, Zion’s business has already served over 200 clients within its first year, and is continuing to grow.

Zion added: “I would like to first thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for giving me my talent and purpose. I would also like to thank my teacher, Mr. Seth Dickerson, for helping me develop my skills. Thank you to my parents, my little brother, and my entire family for always supporting and believing in me and last but not least, I would like to thank Union for helping to make my dream of attending college come true!"
